Best Cooling Fans for Garages Reviews
When it comes to a garage gym, you want a fan that’s going to provide the power to compensate for your strenuous workout. The Lasko 2265QM is a sturdy 20-inch fan that has 3 fan speeds, giving you control over the amount of air you have cooling you down.
You can alternate between the floor and the wall by simply lifting it up and setting it down on the wall bracket. Regardless of which position you have it in, you can pivot the fan head up or down depending on the air-flow direction you need. Additionally, to change the fan speed there is a very simple and intuitive knob.
At lower speeds, this fan cane an odd rattling noise which can be extremely irritating. In our experience, the metal blade seemed a little loose and was causing this noise. We simply tightened the blade and the noise was gone.
- Rubber pads help keep the stand in place and cut down on vibrations
- Does not require tools to assemble
- Produces up to 3460 CFM of airflow
- Easy to move around thanks to handling
- Simple wall mount design makes transitioning from floor to wall quick and easy
- Difficult to open and clean the fan
- Noise level
Next on our list is the B-Air FIRTANA, which is another 20″ high-powered fan. This fan offers more velocity than the other fans on our list. Additionally, what sets this one apart from the Lasko fan is that it offers a 360° rotation, which gives greater flexibility in creating strong airflow.
At only 12.1 pounds, this is a lightweight fan that can produce up to 4,650 CFM of airflow. It also has a wall mount that allows for easy transitions between the floor and wall, and the rubber grips help it stay in place.
Reviewers have noted that this fan will not last for an extended period of time. One customer said that the fan stopped working after two years of use. Additionally, as with most fans of this power, it is on the louder side which does not make it easy to sleep with this fan being used on high power.
- Comes with a 1-year manufacturer warranty
- Designed with a handle
- High CFM rating of 4,650
- Weighs just 12 pounds
- Can be used on the floor or with the wall mount
- The knob is located on the back which can be hard to get to when wall mounted
Unlike the other models on our list, this one is a wall-mounted-only unit. This is a great option for those who do not have a lot of floor space, or who want to keep it up and out of the way.
The OEMTOOLS 30″ Wall Fan features a 3-blade design and oscillates 90 degrees. It is rated at 9,500 CFM, which is nearly triple the Lasko fan, so this is a beast! The mounting brackets are durable and very easy to install, just 3 screws into a stud and you’re all set.
Like most wall-mounted fans, you change the fan speed with a pull-chain. To stop the fan from oscillating you would unhook the arm from the rotating mechanism. Its easy, but not “push a button” easy. The built-in handle makes this fan easy to move around your home gym to stay cool at all times.
Customers have noted that this fan is difficult to install. In some instances, it will need a drill in order to attach the wall stand to tough material. For that reason, its important to think about where you want to place this fan before making a purchase. Unfortunatly, some customers have also had issues with the fan stopping during the middle of the night. This is something to consider if you plan to use the fan for sleep as well. Additionally, at 24.75 x 12 x 22.5 inches and 14.5 pounds, this fan is difficult to move around your garage gym.
- Surprisingly quiet for a commercial fan
- The fan blades are 24 inches in diameter
- It doesn’t draw a lot of power
- Very strong airflow
- Turning off the oscillation is not super-straight forward
- Wall mount only
The OEMTOOLS fan is very powerful! While it is the only wall-mount fan on our list, it makes up for this lack of features with its power and its ability to oscillate. When it comes to cooling down our garage gym, we found better results with this fan because of its ability to oscillate. It also felt better while we were working out, because we didnt have a fan on us the entire time. Getting that air circulation was important to creating a cool room, which is why this fan also has such high ratings online.
What to Look for in a Garage Gym Fan
The features to look for will depend on your gym set up. If you have a gym with equipment you don’t have to move around, then maybe a wall-mounted unit would be best. This will give you more floor space and if you go with the OEMTOOLs model that is on our list, you will also get the 90° oscillation and tons of power.
If you have to move equipment around and pack up your gym when you’re done, a portable floor model might be a better choice. With these, you can box them up when you are finished with your workout. You can also move them around, depending on how much space you need for the workout you are doing.
When selecting a fan for your home gym, keep in mind:
- Is it wall mounted, a floor model, or both?
- Does it fold up for easy storage?
- How much power do I need?
