Best Bulb Duster Reviews

We had to fight our ants on the front line which was inside our house before we discovered that the real problem was in our backyard. We used the Harris Diatomaceous Earth Powder Duster to great success both in our kitchen and in the backyard. It comes with a very narrow 6” nozzle that is perfect for blowing a precise amount of DE in very hard to reach places. The whole thing acts like a bellows. You simply squeeze down on the accordion-like housing and the DE comes out of the narrow nozzle tip.

We dusted underneath our refrigerator and in the various cracks and crannies in the stucco in our backyard and this duster provided great coverage. The best part is that it doesn’t come bursting out when you squeeze on it. It emits a controlled, even amount of DE so long as you squeeze it like a normal person.

  • Very affordable
  • Easy to refill
  • Good for indoor and outdoor use

Now this particular duster comes in 2 sizes. The large version holds 14 ounces of DE (or your insecticide of choice) and the small version holds 8 ounces. Since we picked this one up for spot dusting after the brunt of the insect invasion was over, we opted for the smaller version. This was a very thoughtfully designed duster. The part you squeeze to push out the DE is made of rubber and the nozzle is actually made out of copper. The company includes a funnel for easy filling and even an extension rod for the nozzle when you have to reach high or otherwise hard to reach areas.

We filled this thing once and didn’t have to fill it again – 8 ounces was plenty to last us the season. Overall this was a very convenient and easy to use duster that comes with everything you need to accurately apply DE.

  • Comes with a nozzle cover
  • Comes with a filling funnel
  • Very durable

This device looks and operates similarly to the last product on our list but it has one distinct advantage. There are three ports onto which three different rubber attachments can be applied. Right off the bat, this was a very versatile duster. We were able to use it for multiple applications. When we needed to cover a large area on our footpath, there was an attachment for it. When we needed to shove some DE into some broken vinyl siding, there was an attachment for that too. There is also an extension attachment for when you can’t quite reach your target.

And like the last entry on our list, the Punchau Pest Control Bulb Duster comes with a funnel so you can easily refill it. In all, the Punchau Pest Control Duster can hold up to 10 ounces of your pesticide of choice and weighs only about 11 ounces. This was a very convenient handheld duster that came in handy for multiple dusting applications.

  • Comes with a nozzle cap so you can safely store it with DE inside
  • Comes with an extension attachment
  • Rubber and plastic design

What to Look for in a Bulb Duster

If you are wondering if we ran into dusters that we didn’t like, the answer is an emphatic yes. The fact is that there are a lot of cheap products out there that only work for the first few applications or ones that spray too much or too little of your pesticide of choice. So if you are looking for your own bulb duster for bugs, we recommend keeping an eye out for features like:

  1. A no-clog nozzle
  2. Rubber bulb design
  3. A screw top or at least a funnel for easier filling
  4. Multiple-use for DE, Pyganic Drione and other pesticides

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best pesticide for home use?

DE is recognized as one of the safest pesticides for residential use. It is safe around food so it can be used in the kitchen and it can be used to kill multiple kinds of bugs like ants, roaches and others.

Does vinegar keep bugs away?

Not really. The smell of vinegar actually attracts insects. The reason people seem to think of it as a way to keep bugs away is because it can be used in tandem with some sort of trap. Vinegar is effective for luring bugs but you need to set up some sort of trap with it in order to eliminate the problem.

Does Diatomaceous Earth kill spiders?

Yes. DE is actually very effective for both killing and keeping new spiders away. Spray it around dark, dry areas of your home to kill or remove spiders and stop them from coming back to the same areas.

Final Words

We won our battle with the ants. And it was thanks to fine bulb dusters like the ones on our list.
