Best Couch Vacuum

Have you ever noticed that toddlers and pets sort of present you with the same household problems? We have both; a Schnauzer and a 4-year-old daughter. The one thing that we quickly noticed as our human and canine children began to become more mobile was that our couch was suffering. We would lift the cushions to find all kinds of unimaginable debris; bits of kibble, bits of dry cereal, toys (both dog and human) and hair – loads and loads of hair. That’s why we found the best couch vacuum.

It was getting pretty ridiculous and we soon realized that our traditional push vacuum wasn’t doing the trick. We needed something different. So we tried out a handful of handheld vacuums cleaners built specifically for furniture or spot-cleaning. We went through some lemons but because we were persistent, we unearthed some gems as well. The following list of the best couch vacuums documents our experience with the gems.

Best Couch Vacuum Reviews

This particular device was the most convenient vacuum that we tested. It features a dust cup that can hold 31 ounces of debris before it needs to be changed and the battery lasts for a long time. On a full charge the battery can last for over 8 hours. And recharging the lithium ion battery is super easy. Just snap it into the dock and you’re good to go. The Black + Decker Dustbuster Handheld Vacuum also came with one of the best crevice attachments we have ever come across. It was perfect for squeezing into the tight spots of our couch where the armrest meets the cushion.

And when there are no attachments in use, the suction mouth is very wide – good for cleaning up whole pieces of dry cereal and kibble left lying around the couch. The whole thing is just over 2 pounds so it’s very lightweight and portable as well. There is also a soft brush attachment so you can dust the fabric of your couch.

  • Transparent dust cup housing so you can see when it needs to be emptied
  • Strong, cyclonic suction
  • Comes from a very reliable manufacturer

The most helpful feature of this vacuum cleaner is the motorized brush attachment it comes with. This attachment was very effective for getting all the light pet and human hair we couldn’t see on our light-toned couch. So as the name implies, this is a great vacuum to have handy if you want to get pet hair off your furniture. There is also a handy crevice tool perfect for the nooks and crannies of your couch. The dust cup can hold 23 ounces of debris and it is very easy to empty.

This is a cordless vacuum that is also powered by a rechargeable lithium-ion battery. It only takes the battery about a half hour to take on a full charge too. This is a great choice if you suffer from allergies. There are 3 filters in this vacuum; one for large debris, large particulate matter and fine particles. Additionally, you can also find this product in Canada on Amazon or Walmart.

  • Has a wide mouth for larger debris
  • It can hold a lot of debris before it has to be emptied
  • The filter can be washed and reused

This was the most powerful vacuum we tested and if you don’t like to wait around for your vacuum to charge, this corded Bissell offering would be a good match for you. The Bissell Pet Hair Eraser 33A1 is powered via a 16 foot power cord. And at an operation power of 4 amperes, it delivers some serious suction. We used this vacuum mainly on the surfaces of our couch and it picked up everything. The standard mouth design is good for picking up hair specifically but there is also a contour attachment that helps when you have to vacuum in corners and creases in your couch.

The dust cup can hold 26 ounces of debris and is transparent. There are also multiple filters in this vacuum cleaner which is good if you suffer from pet hair or dander allergies. We even used this model in our car and it was powerful enough to get hair and dirt off the upholstery and floor boards.

  • Easy to snap attachments on and off
  • Don’t have to worry about charging
  • Very powerful suction

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best vacuum for furniture?

The Bissell line of Pet Eraser vacuums frequently appears on lists of the best vacuums for furniture. In fact, that is what prompted us to check them out in the first place and we were not disappointed with their performance.

Which vacuum cleaner is best for a sofa?

For sofas specifically, we found that the Bissell Pet Hair Eraser (33A1) performed the best. Mainly because it was more powerful than any vacuum that we tested so it was able to suck up the deeply embedded hairs that were entangled with the fibers of our sofa.

Are bagless vacuums better than bagged vacuums?

In our experience, yes. While vacuum bags tend to be able to hold more debris than bagless units, emptying them is a lot harder and messier. Plus, you don’t have to worry about buying replacement bags with bagless vacuums.

Pet and human hairs are unavoidable. But we have found our solution in these fantastic devices. You may be wondering which one we still use to this day. We went with the Black + Decker Dustbuster Vacuum because it was just as easy for my wife to use as it was for me. But any of the products on our list of the best couch vacuums would be a score so check them out! Also check out Electrolux vacuums today!
